Kennel Club names
We’ve just KC-registered the puppies and it’s surprisingly difficult to find five perfect names! Thanks to everyone who made suggestions. The names we went for in the end are as follows: Lexislectric Fields of Gold (Jazz) Lexislectric Abby Solution (Tia) Lexislectric Briar Rose (Briar) Lexislectric Lampblack (we’re currently calling her ‘Spats’, because she has...

The puppies are here!
Lexy had her puppies today! The whelping began at 11:30am, and by 1pm the first puppy had been born. By 5pm she was all finished and she is now resting on her new vet bed with five beautiful baby girls! Two are golden and three are mostly black with a few white patches. It’s too soon to tell how their markings will end up, but they are all lovely, strong, glossy and healthy. Lexy is being a...

Pupdate: 8th March
We went live on the Champdogs site this afternoon and have already received emails from a number of potential owners! If you’d like to be put on our list so that we can let you know when the pups are born, send us an email or give us a ring (contact details at the top of the page). We’re not taking reservations until people start coming to see the pups (around 2-3 weeks), but we can keep you...

The puppies are kicking!
Lexy’s getting bigger by the day and starting to feel a little uncomfortable, if her grunting is anything to go by. And no wonder; because the puppies have started moving! We can feel them when we put our hands on her tummy - little elbows and feet pushing on her side as they move around. We can’t wait to meet them! Her due date is next Friday, so we won’t have to wait...

The Dad
The sire is Lynwater Sea Breeze of Crowmere Cocker Spaniels: Breeze is Optigen PRA DNA Normal/Clear and Antagene FN DNA tested Normal/Clear. Lexy is Clear for FN but a carrier for PRA. This means that Lexy’s puppies will not be affected: they will never exhibit the health problems Progressive Retinal Atrophy and Familial Nephropathy. This is a picture of one of Crowmere Cocker...

Lexy is pregnant!
After much deliberation we decided to breed from Lexy. We are not professional breeders; Lexy is a much-loved family pet. This will be her first litter. Her due date is 16th March, so the puppies should be ready 8-9 weeks after this date. We’ll be posting updates (or ‘Pupdates’) regularly, so check back here to see how she is getting along!

About Lexy
Lexy is our black-and-tan cocker spaniel bitch. She’s been with us since 2007 and is loved by everyone in Machynlleth, mid-Wales, our home town. We’re known around here not as Kirsty and Tom but as ‘Lexy’s owners’! She’s petite for the breed, fine boned and has a lovely temperament. She’s gentle with kids, likes a cuddle and spends her entire waking...
